First of all, (Bonne Année) Happy New Year! We have started 2021 and are all excited for everything it has to offer. However, something does not change- if you want to learn a language, you need exposure! Lucky for us, we are getting help from a giant! Netflix has just started streaming a series, in French, shot in France, about a famous book by a famous French author. Arsène Lupin is one of the French culture's most famous fictitious characters, known as the gentleman thief, famous for being a master of disguise. His stories, written by Maurice Leblanc have travelled time and is still, to date, being the inspiration for movies and theatre shows. I recommend watching the Netflix series in French with French subtitles at least once, as it would help your listening skills, vocabulary and comprehension.

I have also worked on a new playlist with a different genre this time. It is combination of titles that are all-time favourites and that form part of the classical French music repertoire, and of more modern titles, new releases, ranging from jazz to poetry to classical French. The advantage of listening to slow music, is not only about its relaxing virtues, but mainly pertains to the slow and clear elocution of words: better comprehension and increased vocabulary!

The last piece of French culture is, as you probably guessed, about food! I am enclosing a realistic conversation that could happen in a restaurant and a real menu you could have to pick from, one day, in a COVID-free world.

Enjoy!
